You grew up believing in a higher power,
a God who was always there. You may have grown up in a church that
provided answers to many of life's questions. Certain things were
always right and other things were always wrong. Your life was
fitting an expected pattern and you had approval from your family,
friends. and religious community. Life made sense.
Then, one day, you realized that you were different from others
around you. You discovered that the person you were romantically and
sexually attracted to was not a person of the opposite sex. It was
something you always knew, but were just now able to put it into
words. Life was drastically different. If you cam out to family and
friends, you may have experienced the entire gamut of reactions -
from approval, to confusion, to disapproval. If you told your
religious community, you heard reactions of horror and condemnation.
Now that you know what man thinks of you, you wonder what God thinks
of you. You turn to traditional religious resources only to find all
they talk about is the story of Sodom and Gomorrah and how God
destroyed them because of homosexuality. If God thinks this
lifestyle is so devious, you are left with two options. You can go
into the closet, deny your feelings and fit into a pre-made role in
order to serve God. The other option is to totally deny God and live
a lustful lifestyle that has stereotyped GLBT's in this century.
Both option are not good for the long term and will not bring you
into the place that God intended you to be.

The Lord does not see as mortals
see; they look on the outward appearance, but the Lord
looks on the heart.

The Good News!
There is a place
for you in a spiritual community and you can serve God as a GLBT.
Many of the "clobber scriptures" used by the traditional religious
community have been proven to be a misinterpretation through the
personal bias of spiritual leaders while the original Greek and
Hebrew text in which our modern Bible was originally written was
ignored. Attitudes are also skewed by taking passages out of
context. There are many resources available to help you study this
subject.
Whether you are straight or
GLBT, God is looking for the same thing from both communities. He is
looking for people who will worship Him in spirit and in truth. He
is looking for those who will let Him be God in their lives.
As a child of God, you will be brought into a place of peace,
health, prosperity, and eternal life. He made this offer to the
whole world through His Son, Jesus Christ. And all you need to do is
say yes to His will and ways. God is no respecter of race,
nationality, sex, or sexual orientation when it come to whom He
wants as His child. He is waiting for you to come to Him.
